From September 10th to 13th was held the thirteenth edition of the bi-annual IARTEM Conference at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, attended by members of Stellae RG and in which Prof. Jesús Rodríguez Rodríguez became president.

The International Association for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media (IARTEM, http://www.iartem.org/) is a community of researchers who work to promote research in the field of textbooks and educational media, with a long story of 24 years since the first bi-annual conference in Sweden 1991. Berlin 2015 has joined 150 researchers interested in educational media and textbooks from twenty-seven countries around the world. Denébola Álvarez and Jesús Rodríguez, Stellae RG researchers, have submitted a corpus of educational materials developed locally that has taken great success, emerging opportunities for international collaboration. They also presented a paper on the role of learning materials in good practices in Early Childhood Education.

 

In the IARTEM General Assembly held after the closing ceremony was elected the Board Members. Professor Jesús Rodríguez Rodríguez was sworn in as President from the Department of Teaching and School Organization of the University of Santiago de Compostela and member of the Stellae RG. Among the objectives of its mandate it is to organize the next conferences in Bogota 2016 and Lisbon 2017, uplift the research in this field, boost the IARTEM e-Journal (http://biriwa.com/iartem/ejournal/), support other initiatives and meetings including the VII Seminar-Workshop on Didactic Materials Evaluation (Nova Escola Galega, http://www.nova-escola-galega.org/), joint the George Eckert Institute (http://www.gei.de/), promote closer relationships with publisher associations and teacher training institutes, and improve the visibility of IARTEM in social networks.
