Address: Rúa Xosé Mª Suárez Núñez, s/n (Campus Vida), 15782, Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña)

Professional Profile:

A teacher with a degree in Educational Sciences from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina and a PhD in Pedagogy from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Prof Gewerc is now teaching subjects on the application of new technologies to university teaching. Her personal and professional history is divided into two spheres: her beginnings in Córdoba, Argentina and the new path initiated in Spain. In both places she has pursued two lines of work: teacher training at all levels of education and the relationship between theory and practice (how theory helps us understand everyday practice).

Throughout her professional development, her interest has centered on Didactics in two different but complementary educational levels: University and Primary School. On the one hand, her work involving the meaning of teaching at university is the organizational context where her teaching practice is carried out. Therefore, her analysis and research on her own practice is best understood in this setting. Moreover, her PhD thesis addressed the professional identity of university teachers.

At the beginning of her career, Prof Gewerc worked in primary education as a pedagogy advisor promoting innovation. This gave her an opportunity to learn and discover the pleasure of learning from both teachers and students. She has continued to develop this line of research, and the results are evident in the numerous publications and projects directed by her.

She is currently coordinating inter-university cooperation projects at an international level. The integration of Information and Communication Technologies and their implications for teaching has become the point of juncture between both educational levels.
