Research trainees Ana Rodríguez Guimeráns and Pablo Gayo, from the Stellae Research Group, attended the 4th International Congress on Critical and Inclusive Education (EduCrítica 25), held on September 26 and 27. The congress focused on the role of education across five thematic areas: in response to neofascism, denialism, and hate speech; in the context of war, imperialism, and civilizational crisis; in the face of heteropatriarchy and social exclusion; in opposition to capitalism, privatization, and commodification; and in relation to the climate crisis and the destruction of nature.
The participants presented the paper “Análisis del argumentario político durante la aprobación de la LOMLOE”, developed in collaboration with Natalia Cea (University of A Coruña) and Kevin González (Moaña City Council). This study offers a critical discourse analysis of the positions taken by various political parties during the approval of the LOMLOE, focusing particularly on state-subsidized education, educational inclusion, and language policy. They also presented “Backlash en streaming: discursos antifeministas en la manosfera española y desafíos para la educación”, produced in collaboration with Milena Villar (University of Santiago de Compostela). This research analyzes the discourse of three Spanish YouTubers in relation to the sexist and anti-feminist narratives they disseminate in their videos, as well as the strategies they use to engage their audiences through their messaging.
