The Stellae research group is celebrating. Professors Silvia López Gómez, Pablo Gayo Pérez and Jesús Rodríguez Rodríguez received the first prize in the teaching category of the XVI edition of the Awards for the Introduction of the Gender Perspective in Teaching and Research, organized by the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) with the support of the City Council of Santiago de Compostela.
The award-winning work, titled “TEACHING WITH A GENDER PERSPECTIVE: EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS THAT TEACH AND TRANSFORM”, presents a teaching experience carried out during the 2024/2025 academic year in the courses “Design and Evaluation of Educational Materials” (Bachelor’s Degree in Pedagogy) and “Design and Development of Educational Materials” (Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education). The project focused on incorporating the gender perspective into the design, analysis, and creation of educational materials, with special emphasis on accessibility, inclusion, and diversity based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
During the process, students created materials in different formats —both printed and digital— and designed and used evaluation guides with a gender perspective. In addition, training sessions on equality and the prevention of gender-based violence were held in collaboration with professionals and specialized organizations. The project also promoted the open dissemination of the materials through a dedicated web space and the USC’s information channels, contributing to their reach beyond the classroom.
The award ceremony took place yesterday, November 6 at 12:00 p.m. in the Noble Hall of the Colegio de Fonseca (Santiago de Compostela). These awards aim to recognize and promote the integration of the gender perspective as a criterion of quality and educational and research innovation at the university.
