Dr. María Helena Zapico Barbeito has a PhD in Pedagogy, a Master in Social Gerontology and a Diploma in Social Education from the University of Santiago of Compostela (Spain). Since 2009 she has taught at the University of A Coruña, where she served as Vice Dean of Academic Organization for the Faculty of Education Sciences. Her research and publications have revolved around three key areas: the design and evaluation of teaching materials, the study of intergenerational relationships in schooling and social contexts, and the analysis of the processes of educational innovation based on ICT. Author of more than twenty articles and book chapters, she has taken part in seven national and international research projects, and has participated in several conferences which dealt ICTs in education. She has done various predoctoral residencies in national and international research centers, as well as a recent postdoctoral residency at the Åbo Akademi University (Finland).
